We request that participants plan to be in attendance for the entire intensive to support the quality of connection, learning and trust we hope to create. Please make travel arrangements to support the following arrival and departure times: Retreat starts Monday, August 9, 2010
Retreat ends at 4 pm on Sunday, August 15, 2010. Financial Contributions The requested financial contribution for the intensive has two parts: your tuition contribution and your accommodations contribution. The requested contribution for tuition is $400 - $1000. Tuition payments will provide financial support for the trainers and cover the administrative costs incurred in putting on the retreat. We hope tuition contributions will average $600; this allows us to cover our expenses; tuition contributions higher than $600 supports those who need to pay at the lower end of the scale and will be used to offer scholarships to those otherwise unable to attend. Our previous retreats (through the New York Intensive) have been able to award over $50,000 in aid to participants. The rates for room and board and facility use fees, which is separate from your tuition, are as follows: $675 - triple occupancy Refund Policy: Full refund for all money paid, less a $50 processing fee, is available upon request prior to July 8, 2010. After July 8, 2010, full refund less $200 (to cover costs associated with arrangements that have been made) is available. Payment schedule: You may either pay the full contribution at the time of registration or pay only for your room and board with your registration and pay your tuition contribution by July 1, 2010. Payments after the initial registration can be made online through PayPal or payments via check can be mailed to Barbara Kochan (see section on how to register below). Due to fees for processing credit card payments, our preference is for payments made by checks. If a different timing for the payments is needed, please contact Barbara Kochan at Barbara.Kochan@LearnNVC.org. Financial Assistance: The organizers and trainers for the Diversity Intensive are committed to making NVC training as widely available as possible and welcoming to people from all backgrounds, including those with economic challenges. We will be using contributions greater than the minimum to make this event as inclusive as possible. In the past our scholarships have mostly been in the $200 - $500 range. Applications for assistance may be downloaded by clicking here for a PDF file, or here for a Word doc. Forward completed applications to Barbara Kochan, retreat organizer, at Barbara.Kochan@LearnNVC.org, or mail to the address below. Scholarships will be awarded based on the following criteria: financial need, potential for utilizing an NVC diversity consciousness toward social change or offering NVC to diverse communities including commitment to working with currently underserved populations. Applications for financial assistance should be submitted by June 15, 2010. Applications will be processed as they are received. All applicants will receive responses by July 15, 2010. Volunteers: There are many ways that participants can support this event being as inclusive, hospitable, inspiring and meaningful as possible. We welcome your input, assistance and contributions – which also serve to keep expenses down and increase affordability. CEU Provider: Nonviolent Communication Santa Cruz This 6-day retreat meets the qualifications for 42 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. The CEUs we can provide are recognized by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Boards in other states may or may not recognize these CEUs; however, it will be up to the training participant to check with their state's Board. CEU application packets will be available at the event. There is a separate processing fee of $5/unit for the first 6 CEUs, $2/unit for each subsequent CEU, paid separately, at the end of the event. ($102 for 42 CEUs.) We are committed to making The Diversity Retreat accesible to those who do not currently have financial resources to contribute the requested amount for tuition or room and board. Some of our participants have been able to raise funds to support their attendance from their community. Others come from communities that simply do not have access to any disposable income to support the participant's attendance, no matter how much they value and need the skills the participant will learn. We dearly want the consciousness, healing and skills we are offering to be available to everyone, especially to those who could benefit from the increase in internal resources this training can produce. Your gift is essential in making this work possible. It helps to cover the costs of room and board for participants, and helps to make it possible for the trainers to continue doing this work (in previous years, some trainers have received little or no income in order to support inclusivity).
